Major General (ret) Manolis Sfakianakis has served in the Hellenic Police for 34years – 23 of which dealing with the investigation of Cyber Crimes. His career in the Hellenic Police was concluded in January 2017, when he was leader in Europe and in charge of four European programmes, under the titles: “Information for the citizens and the private sector on payment cards fraud” “Raising citizens’ awareness about malicious software targeting mobile devices”,
From 2001 to 2016 he has been keynote speaker in 875 national and international conferences by INTERPOL – EUROPOL, various Universities, international organizations e.t.c
He has handled more than 10.000 serious cyber-crime cases, of a total of 28.000
He has studied analysis and programming of computer systems. He was trained in London in Plastic Crime and in FBI for Cyber Terrorism issues.
He holds bachelor’s degrees in a) “Criminal Sciences” and b) in “Criminology” of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Law School.
He is a PhD Candidate in the School of Information & Communication Technologies of University of Piraeus.
He is a professor in the University of Piraeus, the Police Academy and the National School of Judges.
He had the idea of the CYBERKID application, for which he was awarded the Mobility Forum & Apps Awards 2015 golden prize.
He is founder of CSI INSTITUTE, with headquarters in Athens, aiming to found in every city of the country an institute dealing with children’s education in safe web surfing and the promotion of entrepreneurship through specialized actions for each professional group.
The three last titles are part of a newly published book series for kids.
